Maulana Abul Kalam Muhiyuddin Ahmed Azad (Urdu: مولانا ابوالکلام محی الدین احمد آزاد) was an Indian Muslim scholar and a senior political leader of theIndian independence movement, who lived from 11 November 1888 – 22 February 1958. He was one of the most prominent Muslim leaders to supportHindu-Muslim unity, opposing the partition of India on communal lines. Following India's independence, he became the first Minister of Education in the Indian government.
